This is a courtesy English version. For consumers, the language version provided to you applies; vis-à-vis businesses, the German version (widerruf.html) is authoritative.
Where you purchased determines who handles the refund: for purchases made via our website or the Windows version, Paddle acts as Merchant of Record. For purchases made via the Mac App Store, Apple is responsible (see section 2b). This page informs you about your statutory rights as a consumer.
1. Right of withdrawal
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within fourteen days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period is fourteen days from the day the contract was concluded (for software downloads: from the day on which you were given access to the download).
To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must inform us by means of a clear statement (e.g. by email) of your decision to withdraw from this contract:

You may use the attached model withdrawal form for this purpose, although it is not mandatory. To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient that you send your notification concerning the exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
2. Early expiry of the right of withdrawal for one-time purchases (digital content)
For a contract for the supply of digital content not provided on a tangible medium (e.g. the Pro one-time purchase), the right of withdrawal expires early if the trader has begun performance of the contract after you have:
- expressly consented to the trader beginning performance of the contract before the end of the withdrawal period,
- confirmed your awareness that, by giving your consent, you lose your right of withdrawal once performance of the contract begins, and
- we have provided you with a confirmation of the contract pursuant to § 312f BGB (e.g. the purchase/order confirmation by email) (§ 356 (5) BGB).
This consent and confirmation is given during the purchase process via Paddle by ticking a corresponding checkbox; you receive the contract confirmation by email. If you tick this box and complete the purchase, your right of withdrawal for a one-time purchase expires once the licence key is made available.
2a. Withdrawal for subscriptions (Pro subscription, Team)
For subscriptions (continuous supply over a period of time), the right of withdrawal does not expire merely because the licence key has been made available. You may withdraw from the conclusion of a subscription within fourteen days. If you have requested that the supply begins during the withdrawal period, you owe a proportionate amount of the agreed price for the period up to receipt of your withdrawal (compensation for value, § 357a BGB); any amounts paid in excess will be refunded. The automatic renewal of an ongoing subscription does not give rise to a new right of withdrawal.
2b. Purchases via the Mac App Store
If you obtained Kobel via the Mac App Store, purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple. For these purchases, Apple's withdrawal and refund rules (Apple Media Services Terms) take precedence over the provisions above. In this case, please request refunds directly from Apple, e.g. at reportaproblem.apple.com.
3. Refunds (Refund Policy)
Purchases via our website / the Windows version: Refunds are processed through Paddle (Paddle.com Market Ltd.) as Merchant of Record. Paddle acts as the seller towards you.
If you would like to request a refund:
- Contact hello@kobel.app with your order ID and the subject "Withdrawal" or "Refund".
- Alternatively, you can contact Paddle directly at paddle.com.
Purchases via the Mac App Store: Here, Apple is the Merchant of Record. Please submit refund requests directly to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com or via Settings → Apple ID → Purchases. We have no influence over Apple's decision; however, we are happy to help you with any questions at hello@kobel.app.
In the case of a valid withdrawal (within the deadline and without prior expiry of the right of withdrawal), the purchase price will be refunded in full. The refund is made using the same means of payment that you used for the original transaction.
4. Consequences of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we must repay all payments we have received from you without undue delay and no later than fourteen days from the day on which we received notification of your withdrawal. For this repayment, we use the same means of payment that you used for the original transaction, unless expressly agreed otherwise with you.
