Kobel brings AI into your team’s daily work. Simple enough for everyone. Secure enough for IT. Flexible enough for any in-house software.
Why Kobel
Rolling out AI in a company raises the same questions every time: Who can see what? How does IT stay in control? And how do you connect your own software? Kobel answers every one of them.
Five colors instead of complex permission syntax. Every employee understands Kobel in 30 seconds.
No cloud, no upload, nothing shared with Kobel servers. Files stay on the employee’s machine.
Team Policy: IT defines the rules once. Every installation picks them up automatically.
Make your own CRM, ERP or industry software MCP-ready via the App-Proxy — without touching the software itself.
Simple for every employee
AI rollouts often fail because the tooling is too complex. Kobel is built so everyone can use it from day one — from marketing to accounting.
Five colors via right-click. No regex, no path patterns, no config files. Every employee can set permissions — or IT does it centrally via Policy.
German, English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, Turkish, Hindi, Arabic — no plug-ins, no gaps.
Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini, Ollama — installed AI tools are found and connected with a click. Nobody edits JSON files.
One click on the tray icon and every AI instantly loses access to every file. No detours, no dialogs — even for employees who never configured anything.
Security & Privacy
Kobel is not another cloud that processes your files. It’s a local gateway that sits between the AI and your file system. Without your approval, the AI sees nothing.
Kobel doesn’t process file contents — permission checks run entirely locally, so no data-processing agreement is needed for Kobel itself. A clear benefit for client files, HR records or medical data. Important: as soon as you share content with an AI, that AI provider’s privacy terms apply, and a separate data-processing agreement with the AI provider may be required.
IT admin control
IT defines what’s allowed once. Every Kobel installation pulls the rules automatically — and can lock settings so employees cannot override them.
Writes a policy file and hosts it on an internal server or network share.
The URL is set once in Kobel — locally or rolled out via MDM.
Kobel loads the rules automatically. Locks take effect. Updates reach everyone instantly.
Specific folders can be pinned to Red. Employees cannot unlock them on their own.
Policy files can be hosted via HTTPS or classic network shares — fits any existing infrastructure.
If the internal server is briefly down, Kobel keeps working with the last-loaded policy. Nobody is blocked.
Team Policy is part of the Team license.
In-house software
Every company runs software it operates itself. Kobel connects it to AI via the App-Proxy — the software itself stays untouched. What’s required is an MCP connector, which is already available for common tools in the App Catalog. For bespoke industry software, the in-app guide shows developers how to write a small connector in hours.
CRM, ERP, inventory, CAD, internal databases — software is connected via a small MCP connector that speaks to the AI on its behalf. Kobel starts and manages it in the background.
Common applications come with ready-made configurations in the App Catalog. Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive plug in like local folders — same color system, same rules.
Use cases
Four examples across industries — different needs, same solution.
Every client project in its own folder. The creative team can write (Teal, with backup), all other project folders are blocked. No accidental access to other clients’ data.
Client folders pinned to Red via Team Policy. Templates and research folders on Green. The AI helps writing — but never sees client files. Audit log as proof.
Your in-house industry software is connected via the App-Proxy. The AI drafts quotes straight from the ERP without employees switching between systems. Orders stay blocked.
Cursor reads and writes code (Teal — every AI change gets a backup). ChatGPT runs alongside for correspondence and has no access to the repository. Finance and HR are blocked for both.
License for businesses
The difference is simple: only the Team license includes the Policy feature that lets IT steer centrally. Everything else — scaling, MDM, locks — is part of the same license.
